Amazon and Eicher collaborate to deploy 1,000 electric trucks

 

Cooperation between Amazon and Eicher Trucks and Buses, a branch of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, was launched to electrify Amazon’s middle-mile and last-mile delivery procedures in India.

According to an official release, as part of the partnership, the business plans to deploy up to 1,000 zero-emission electric trucks in a variety of payload categories through Amazon’s transportation service partners, VE Commercial Vehicles, over the next five years (VECV). “Amazon will progressively deploy 50 Eicher electric trucks in major hubs like Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram over the coming months as a first step,” it added. “This partnership reflects our commitment to promoting smart sustainable solutions and developing a zero-emission transport ecosystem,” VECV Managing Director and CEO Vinod Aggarwal said

We continue to be committed to and are well on our approach to integrating 10,000 EVs into our delivery fleet in India by 2025, said Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Customer Fulfillment, Amazon Transportation Services, Global Specialty Fulfillment, and Supply Chain at Amazon India.

In addition, he said, “We continue to invite other innovators and solution providers in the electric mobility and sustainable transportation space to join us in speeding the decarbonization of the logistics business.

According to the announcement, Eicher’s established electric vehicle platform, which is already in use for bus applications, will be used to build its electric trucks with cutting-edge digital capabilities.

The trucks will have customized cargo stacking layouts and deck lengths ranging from 8 to 24 feet. Moreover, the vehicles will have both rapid and slow charging options, addressing particular operational

This service package takes into account several factors, such as the availability of the charging infrastructure, the operational requirements, the charging length restrictions, the battery capacity, and the fleet’s all-encompassing energy management methods.

In the meantime, Eicher Motors reported a consolidated net profit of 905.6 crores for the three months that ended in March 2023, representing a spectacular jump of 48.42% year over year. Revenue increased from 3,193.32 crores in Q4 of the previous fiscal year to 3,804.32 crores in Q4FY32.
