River, an electric vehicle (EV) startup with offices in Bangalore, unveils Indie, the SUV of scooters. The Bengaluru River R&D facility is where Indie was created, and the River Factory on the city’s outskirts will be where it is produced. Priced at Rs. 125,000, the scooter (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The River website is accepting preorders, and deliveries will begin in August 2023.
Indie has 14-inch wheels, a big 43L under-seat storage compartment, and a 12L front glove box. There are numerous customization options available for the side Lock & Load pannier stays to meet various needs. The motor has a gradability of 18 degrees, a top speed of 90 kmph, and a peak output of 6.7 kW. The three ride modes are Eco, Ride, and Rush, and the rider can alternate between them. Using a normal charger, the 4 kWh battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 5 hours and offers a real-world range of 120 km.
“River’s mission is to improve the day-to-day lives of people through a design-first approach. Our first product Indie is a bold statement, combining two different offerings — utility and lifestyle. It will be the most sensible scooter with the right mix of practicality, capability, and style.”, said Aravind Mani, Co-Founder, and Chief Executive Officer at River.
“Indie is inspired by the modern Indian who is always on the move and wants to make the most of every day. The unique combination of design elements and technical specs give Indie a distinct character, something that inspires you to do more and be more.”, said Vipin George, Co-Founder, and Chief Product Officer at River.
