The EV charging time depends on below mentioned factors.
- EV charger type — The maximum charging rate (output power) of the charger you’re using will determine how long it takes your EV to charge. If your vehicle can accept a 50kW charge rate but you’re only using a 7kW charger, your car can only accept 7kW, which means it will take longer to charge than if you used a 22kW or 50kW Ev charger.
- Vehicle battery size – The larger your vehicle’s battery pack, measured in kWh, the longer it will take to charge.
- Vehicle battery state of charge – If your battery is just 10% charged, it will take longer to charge than if you were charging it from a half-full, 50% level of charge.
- Your EV’s charging rate – You cannot charge your ev battery from a charger of a higher rating than the authorized charging rate. For example, if your car’s maximum charger rate is 22kW, you won’t be able to charge it faster with a 50kW charger.
- The temperature – EV battery is based on lithium-ion. Lithium-based batteries take time to charge in cold temperatures, especially when using DC fast chargers.
