In India, the rising trend of electric cars has begun to gather traction, and the Indian two-wheeler auto sector is not immune to this trend. There has been a slew of recent announcements of two-wheeled electric vehicles, including a scooter from Hero and Mahindra.
To keep you informed about new electric scooters in India, we’ve collected a list of upcoming electric scooters from some of the country’s most well-known manufacturers. These electric scooters will be available in the market this year, sooner or later.
List of Electric Scooters to be launched in India in 2022
Hero electric scooter
Hero and Mahindra have been collaborating to develop a new electric scooter for the Indian market. Their plant in Pithampur has even produced the world’s first electric scooter, the Optima. This new scooter will have a sleek and sinuous appearance as well as a split seat for a more pleasant ride. By the end of the year, they want to have produced one million scooters.
Bajaj electric scooter
Bajaj Auto is preparing to release its second electric scooter, which would retail for around Rs 1.23 lakh. The new scooter is believed to look similar to the Bajaj Chetak in terms of appearance. It’s possible that features like sequential turn indicators and keyless entry aren’t included in the model. It might be fitted with the e-4kW Chetak’s motor, which would be powered by a 2.9kWh battery pack. The name of the next Bajaj electric scooter might be Bajaj Fluir or Bajaj Fluor.
TVS electric scooter
This year, TVS will launch several electric two-wheeler vehicles. They intend to establish themselves in the electric car industry with many releases in the future. They’ve developed a TVS Creon sub-brand for these electric automobiles. The brand’s new electric scooter is expected to be available shortly. This new model might have three lithium-ion batteries and a 12kW electric motor.
Honda electric scooter
Honda, one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers, is preparing to join the electric scooter industry. The new electric 2-wheeler is expected to be released in early 2023, according to rumors. At the 2018 auto show, they also showed off their PCX electric scooter. They went one step further in 2021, obtaining a patent for a scooter in India.
Suzuki electric scooter
Suzuki is another Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer on this list. Burgman Scooter will be available in an electric scooter variant later this year. The scooter is believed to have a design comparable to the aforementioned scooter, as well as a Suzuki worldwide model’s electric motor and battery.
