Fisker to add Tesla’s EV charging connector by 2025

By adopting Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), the electric vehicle startup Fisker said on Tuesday that its customers will have access to the automaker’s Supercharger network by 2025.

Ford Motor and General Motors are just two of the many manufacturers switching from the common Combined Charging System (CCS) connector to Tesla’s formerly exclusive charging architecture, which is expected to rule the market.

The NACS port will be available for charging in Fisker vehicles starting in 2025, while other customers can use an adaptor to use Tesla’s 12,000-strong network of public fast chargers in the United States and Canada.

If customers choose to keep utilizing the CCS technology, the business will continue to offer an adapter, the EV manufacturer added.

Tesla’s most recent agreements mark significant advancements in the displacement of CCS, a competing standard that had previously only had support from President Joe Biden’s administration.

To hasten the installation of EV chargers in the United States, the government is providing $7.5 billion in subsidies.

Since installing and maintaining chargers demands a substantial investment with still-limited benefits, the majority of manufacturers have refrained from constructing sizable charging networks.
