Government launching EV charging and swapping stations locator App
If you are an electric vehicle (EV) owner or enthusiast in India, you might be wondering where to charge or swap your battery when you are on the road. Well, worry no more, because the government is launching an app that will show you all the available EV charging and swapping stations within 2 months.
The app, which is being developed by the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI), will provide real-time information on the location, availability, and cost of EV charging and swapping stations across the country. The app will also allow users to book slots and pay online for the services.
The app is part of the government’s efforts to promote EV adoption and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The government has also announced various incentives and subsidies for EV manufacturers and buyers under the FAME 1 & 2 scheme. The Union Ministry of India has permitted the installation of 6000 EV stations on nine expressways.
According to DHI Secretary Arun Goel, the app will be ready by December 2023 and will be integrated with other platforms such as Google Maps and Aarogya Setu. He said that the app will help EV users plan their trips better and avoid range anxiety.
India has an active network of 934 active public charging stations, which can charge different types of EVs such as electric 2-wheelers, electric 3-wheelers, electric 4-wheelers, and e-buses. Some of the leading players in the EV charging space are Jio-bp, which offers fast EV charging stations for cars and bikes with fluid payment options and a cafe for personal recharge, and SUN Mobility, which offers battery swapping stations for electric 2-wheeler and electric 3-wheelers with a pay-per-use model.
Battery swapping stations are one of the best options for EV charging stations in India and even a solution to the lack of EV charging infrastructure in India. The battery swapping stations take less time to charge your electric vehicle 100%. Just Swap the Drain Lithium-Ion Battery with a new one and be ready for longer drives.
So, if you are looking for a convenient and eco-friendly way to travel in India, you might want to consider switching to an electric vehicle. And with the upcoming app, you will have no trouble finding a place to charge or swap your battery. Happy driving!
