Electric two-wheelers continue to lead EV sales in India, with the segment accounting for roughly 60% of all-electric vehicle sales in the country in February. Out of the total 54,557 electric vehicles sold last month, 32,416 units of high-speed electric scooters were sold in the EV two-wheeler market.
It’s an increase of 18% from January of this year, and a whopping 444% year-over-year increase in registrations.
In February, Hero Electric maintained its lead among electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India.
Last month, the business produced 7,356 electric two-wheelers. In February of last year, Hero Electric reported a more than threefold increase in sales. During the same period last year, Hero Electric sold only 2,194 electric two-wheelers. When compared to January of this year, when the brand sold 7,763 units, Hero Electric noticed a modest drop in sales.

- Hero Electric and Mahindra
The Mahindra Group and Hero Electric, India’s No. 1 EV firm, today announced their intent to collaborate as part of Hero’s growth and expansion plans to meet the country’s growing demand for electric vehicles.
To accommodate market demand, Mahindra Group will produce Hero Electric’s most popular electric bikes, the Optima and NYX, in its Pitampur plant as part of the cooperation.
- Hero Electric and Sun Mobility
Hero Electric and SUN Mobility will jointly begin deployments in the next three months, with a goal of roughly 10,000 electric 2Ws by the end of the year.
Hero Electric has teamed up with SUN Mobility to supply energy infrastructure and services for electric vehicles, as well as to deploy electric 2Ws using the latter’s smart-swappable battery technology.
According to a press statement, Hero Electric and SUN Mobility will jointly begin deployments in the next three months, with a goal of roughly 10,000 electric 2Ws by the end of the year.
- Hero Electric and Log9
Hero Electric has partnered with Log9 Materials, a Bengaluru-based innovative battery technology start-up, to supply Log9InstaCharging battery packs for its whole range of electric vehicles.
The integration of Log9’s RapidX batteries is said to be able to fully charge Hero Electric two-wheelers in 15 minutes, allowing for a continuous ride.
Log9 has taken advantage of its cell-to-pack expertise to create batteries that claim to be nine times faster in terms of charging, performance, and battery life.
- Hero Electric and SpareIt
Electric two-wheeler maker Hero Electric has partnered with automotive aftermarket multi-sided platform SpareIt to train private garage owners and use their network as EV service hubs.
SpareIt locate app will integrate fleets and customers for garage discovery and service calls to make EV owning experience seamless, it added.
- Hero Electric and BattWheelz
Hero Electric on Monday said it has partnered with BattWheelz Mobility, a Gurugram-based startup that offers last-mile delivery mobility solutions to E-Commerce and Hyper-Local Grocery Companies.
As part of the association, by FY 23 the companies will deploy a fleet of 4,000 electric 2-wheelers for last-mile mobility.
