Oben Rorr electric motorcycle deliveries to start from July 2023

Oben Electric, a Bengaluru-based EV startup, plans to begin deliveries of its Oben Rorr electric motorcycle in the first week of July 2023.

The company recently opened its first experience center in HSR Layout, Bangalore, and plans to scale up manufacturing capacity to meet the 21,000 pre-bookings.

According to the EV startup, the Oben Rorr electric motorcycle complies with the most recent Indian government regulations and safety standards for electric vehicles and batteries (AIS 156 Amendment III, Phase II).

The Oben Rorr is powered by an in-house developed 10 kW IPMSM motor that achieves 0–40 kmph in 3 seconds and a top speed of 100 kmph. The Oben Rorr is powered by a 4.4 kWh battery with a certified IDC range of 187 km. According to the company, the battery can be fully charged at home in just 120 minutes (2 hours).

According to the official statement, the electric motorcycle has an LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphorous) cell technology-based battery pack that was designed and developed in-house, providing two times (2x) longer battery life and 50% higher heat resistance.

Oben Electric is now concentrating on the creation and testing of a prototype for their second product, which will be released in 2024. Furthermore, the company is focusing on advanced battery technology to improve performance, range, and lifespan, as well as to reduce charging time even further.

In other news, the company recently raised Rs 40 crore in an extended pre-series A round to increase production capacity at their Bengaluru manufacturing facility to 100,000 units per year and meet the working capital requirements for distribution expansion.

Earlier, Oben Electric also raised $4 million as part of its Pre-Series A round of funding, ahead of the deliveries of the Rorr
