Renault plans to launch Kwid EV and one more electric vehicle in the next 3-4 years

In the next three to four years, Renault is apparently aiming to introduce at least two new electric vehicles, including a fully electric version of the entry-level Kwid.

According to a report, Renault intends to launch nine new products in India over the next three to four years in an effort to increase market share and move up the rankings there. Updates for current models and new electric vehicles will be among the new goods (EVs).

According to the story, which cited Venkat Mamilapalle, CEO and MD of Renault India, the business will introduce at least two electric vehicles, the first of which is anticipated to go on sale in late 2019 or early 2025.

The first EV will likely be a fully electric version of the Kwid entry-level hatchback, the report added.

The Dacia Spring Electric, a version of the Kwid EV that is now available for purchase in Europe, is anticipated to cost less than Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kwid EV will compete with vehicles like the Citroen eC3, Tata Tiago EV, and MG Comet EV at this pricing bracket.

The 26.8 kWh battery pack on the Euro-spec Spring Electric (Kwid EV) provides a WLTP-certified range of 225 km. Via the use of a 30 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from empty to 80% in less than an hour. The EV’s electric motor has a peak torque of 125 Nm and 44 horsepower.
