Tata Power installs EV charging stations in Bengal’s Malda

 

Tata Power announced on June 23, 2023, that it has installed public charging stations at a hotel in West Bengal’s Malda, bringing the total number of such EV mobility infrastructures in the state to more than 150.

It has installed two EV charging stations with capacities of 30 kw and 7.4 kw at the hotel, which is located on the Kolkata-Siliguri highway, 5 kilometers from Malda railway station.

“All visitors to the hotel can use the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile app to locate the nearest charging stations on the go. The app has already been downloaded by over 1 lakh people in India “According to the company.

Tata Power currently has over 4,000 charging points, over 40,000 home chargers (for private use), 250 plus electric bus charging points, and a live EV charging network in over 550 cities across India to build a sustainable EV mobility infrastructure, according to the company.

Earlier, Tata Power signed an agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna Oil & Gas Public Sector undertaking, to provide end-to-end EV charging stations at HPCL’s retail outlets (petrol pumps) in multiple cities and major highways across the country. Tata Power owns an expansive network of over 500 public chargers in 100+ cities, covering petrol pumps, metro stations, shopping malls, theaters, and highways.

Earlier, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, entered into a binding agreement with BlackRock Real Assets-led consortium, including Mubadala Investment Company, to invest Rs 4,000 crore (~US$ 525 million) for a 10.53% stake in TPREL. This newly created platform will consist of five distinct businesses delivering long-term, customer-oriented solutions in utility-scale solar, wind, and hybrid generation assets; solar cell and module manufacturing; engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracting; rooftop solar infrastructure; solar pumps; and electric vehicle charging infrastructure
