Ather Selects Siemens Xcelerator for Advancing E-Mobility Initiatives

Siemens Digital Industries Software has recently disclosed that Ather Energy is broadening its use of the Siemens Xcelerator suite, a collection of industry-oriented software solutions. This expansion aims to streamline Ather Energy’s design and engineering processes, enhance the quality of its products, and expedite their arrival in the market.

Additionally, Ather Energy has established an extensive public charging infrastructure known as Ather Grid, which is both designed and manufactured in India. Boasting over 1600 charging stations, Ather Grid is among the most expansive fast-charging networks in India for electric scooters. Presently, Ather operates more than 175 Experience Centers nationwide and is looking to increase this number to 250 by March 2024. The company has also ventured internationally, opening two Experience Centers in Nepal.

“In the fast-evolving EV industry, speed to market is an important lever to succeed. Siemens’ expanded PLM management enables parallel processing of engineering deliverables, a departure from the sequential approach, thereby reducing the lead time for introducing new products and features.”

Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO at Ather Energy, said.

“Startups are the lifeblood of the electrification revolution in mobility and we’re proud to work alongside the Ather Energy team to help them expand their capabilities to bring their breakthrough products to the Indian market. Our work with Ather Energy is another proof point of leading innovators and pioneers choosing the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio as the platform of choice for product development in the electrification of mobility and helping the world achieve cleaner, more sustainable transportation.”

Robert Jones, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Customer Success, Siemens Digital Industries Software, during a recent visit to the Ather Energy facility, said.

In 2018, Ather Energy implemented Siemens’ Teamcenter® software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to enhance key performance indicators such as quicker market launch, reduced design and engineering cycle times, and fewer design iterations through a first-time-right strategy. Additionally, the Ather Energy team has utilized Siemens’ Simcenter™ STAR-CCM+ for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Simcenter™ physical testing solutions, aiding in-house testing for durability and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). More recently, Ather Energy’s vehicle engineering team transitioned to Siemens’ NX™ software for the development and engineering of new products, replacing their previous system for all current and upcoming vehicle platforms.

“The simulations and virtual testing we perform using Siemens’ tools enable us to crush timing and provide us with great savings in resources and money spent on repeating testing. The stack-up analysis enables us to get the design right the first time and avoids engineering changes. We are looking at expanding the Siemens tools into controlling the manufacturing processes by introducing the management of ‘Bill of Processes’.”

Swapnil Jain commented.
