MG Motor India, Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility sign MoU to strengthen EV ecosystem

Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a subsidiary fully owned by Adani Total Gas Limited and a key player in the expansive Adani Portfolio, has recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MG Motor India, aiming to turbocharge the EV charging infrastructure across India.

This strategic collaboration is set to not only expand the charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) but also offer an array of value-added services to MG’s EV clientele throughout the country. It’s a move poised to significantly bolster India’s burgeoning EV ecosystem, ensuring a robust, efficient charging network is in place to support the country’s green mobility ambitions.

As part of the agreement, ATEL has committed to installing cutting-edge CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealership locations, thus expanding the charging network and enhancing accessibility for customers. The partnership is designed to offer a holistic solution that covers the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the charging stations. Moreover, a digital platform is on the horizon, set to streamline the customer experience with features like discovery, user authentication, charging, and billing settlements, all accessible through a bespoke mobile application.

Further deepening their strategic alliance, both entities will delve into the possibilities of integrating public charging stations across various platforms. This integration aims to leverage sophisticated application programming interfaces (APIs) to boost network visibility and user accessibility. Such a move is expected to offer an effortless and coherent experience across the networks owned and operated by both partners.

Gaurav Gupta, the Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting MG’s dedication to Carbon Neutrality, Sustainability, and Green Mobility.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited. This partnership is a stride towards fostering the adoption of electric vehicles in India and mirrors our commitment to sustainable mobility. By combining our synergies, we aspire to empower Indian consumers to transition to electric vehicles seamlessly.”

He remarked.

On the occasion, Suresh P Mangalani, ED & CEO of ATGL, reflected on the global shift towards sustainable and clean energy sources, with electric vehicles leading the charge.

“Our collaboration with MG Motor India is a landmark achievement that will significantly contribute to India’s energy transition, aiding in the reduction of carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner, greener environment.”

He emphasized.

This alliance also promises to enhance the customer experience through RIFD solutions, offering easy access for MG users at strategic ATEL public charging locations, including airports. ATEL plans to provide RFID cards to MG through bulk purchase deals, featuring special discount offers for MG customers.

MG Motor India stands as an early adopter in the EV domain, focusing on the development of innovative product solutions and the establishment of a comprehensive EV charging infrastructure. This initiative is aimed at making the adoption of electric vehicles more convenient and accessible, evidenced by MG’s development of a versatile 6-way charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
