The electric SUV is available in a single GLC 400 4MATIC variant, featuring an all-wheel-drive configuration, a powerful dual-motor setup and an advanced electric platform. Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Battery, Range and Performance
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is equipped with a 94kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed driving range of up to 711km on a single charge, based on the WLTP testing cycle. The battery powers two electric motors, one mounted on each axle, providing an all-wheel-drive system.
The combined power output stands at approximately 490bhp, while the motors generate 800Nm of peak torque. This setup enables the electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.3 seconds, making it a strong performer in the premium electric SUV segment.
The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW. According to Mercedes-Benz, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes under suitable charging conditions. The company also claims that a 10-minute charging session using a compatible high-power DC charger can add up to 300km of driving range.
Exterior Design and Interior Features
On the exterior, the GLC Electric features a distinctive illuminated front grille with hundreds of individual lighting elements, giving the SUV a modern appearance. Other design highlights include Digital Light headlamps with illuminated three-pointed star elements, connected LED tail lamps, flush-fitting door handles and 20-inch AMG Line alloy wheels.
The SUV measures 4,856mm in length and features a 2,972mm wheelbase, offering a spacious cabin for passengers.
Inside, the highlight is the massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that stretches across the dashboard, integrating the driver display, central infotainment system and front passenger screen. The cabin also features a 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a panoramic glass roof with 162 illuminated stars.
Additional features include powered and massage-enabled front seats, a powered tailgate, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera and nine airbags.
For luggage, the electric SUV offers a 570-litre boot along with a 128-litre front storage compartment, also known as a frunk.
Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Competition in India
With its launch, Mercedes-Benz aims to strengthen its position in India’s premium electric vehicle market. The GLC Electric currently enters a relatively new luxury electric SUV segment, with the upcoming BMW iX3 expected to become one of its key competitors when it arrives in India in 2027.
The combination of local manufacturing, a claimed 711km range, advanced technology and high-performance electric powertrain makes the GLC Electric an important addition to India’s luxury EV market.
As demand for premium electric vehicles continues to grow, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric could help accelerate the adoption of luxury electric SUVs in the country.
