Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is accelerating its expansion in India’s electric mobility market by signing Letters of Intent (LOIs) with more than 50 prospective electric two-wheeler dealers. The company plans to establish over 50 dedicated showrooms across 34 cities in 15 states and Union Territories, marking a significant step towards entering India’s competitive electric scooter and motorcycle segment.
Announced on October 8, 2026, the dealership agreements reflect VinFast’s strategy to expand beyond electric passenger cars and establish a stronger presence in the country’s rapidly evolving EV ecosystem.
VinFast to Establish a Nationwide Electric Two-Wheeler Network
Under the proposed plan, VinFast will collaborate with its Indian dealer partners to develop a dedicated retail network for its electric two-wheelers. The agreements were signed at the company’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, during a visit by representatives of its prospective Indian dealership partners.
The planned network will cover key markets across northern, central, western, southern and eastern India. These include Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.
By establishing showrooms across these regions, VinFast aims to improve its accessibility to Indian consumers and strengthen its distribution capabilities. The selected markets have substantial two-wheeler demand, offering opportunities for electric mobility adoption.
The proposed dealerships will also help the company build customer awareness and establish a retail presence as it prepares to expand its electric two-wheeler business in India.
Charging Infrastructure and After-Sales Support in Focus
Alongside its dealership expansion, VinFast is working to develop charging infrastructure and strengthen after-sales services. These initiatives will be important for building consumer confidence and supporting customers throughout their electric two-wheeler ownership journey.
Anurag Saxena, CEO of VinFast India E-Scooters, said the partnerships mark the beginning of the company’s journey to bring its electric two-wheelers to customers across India. He also highlighted the importance of charging facilities and after-sales support in delivering a reliable ownership experience.
For a new entrant in India’s EV market, establishing a strong service network can be as important as introducing competitive products. Accessible service centres, dependable maintenance and convenient charging options can influence purchasing decisions, particularly among first-time electric vehicle buyers.
VinFast’s proposed expansion therefore combines retail development with efforts to build the supporting infrastructure required for long-term growth.
India’s Electric Two-Wheeler Market Offers Significant Potential
India remains the world’s largest two-wheeler market, making it an important destination for manufacturers looking to expand their electric mobility businesses. According to figures cited by VinFast, approximately 21.41 million two-wheelers were registered in India during the 2025-26 financial year, with electric vehicles accounting for 6.54% of the total.
The relatively low share of electric two-wheelers indicates considerable potential for further electrification. Growing interest in sustainable transportation, increasing awareness of operating costs and expanding charging infrastructure could support the segment’s development.
However, VinFast will face competition from established Indian manufacturers and EV-focused companies, including TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp. Product pricing, performance, range, battery technology, service availability and customer experience will be important factors in determining its market position.
VinFast Expands Beyond Electric Cars in India
VinFast entered India’s green mobility market in 2025, with activities covering the distribution, manufacturing and assembly of electric passenger cars. The company currently offers models including the VF 6, VF 7 and Limo Green in the Indian market.
The proposed electric two-wheeler dealership network represents a new phase in its expansion strategy. It also signals the company’s intention to tap into a larger segment of India’s personal mobility market.
While the LOIs establish a foundation for its planned distribution network, the company’s next steps will include converting dealership commitments into operational showrooms and developing its product and service ecosystem.
VinFast’s plan to establish more than 50 electric two-wheeler showrooms across 34 Indian cities highlights its growing ambitions in the country’s EV industry. Its focus on dealership expansion, charging infrastructure and after-sales services could help build a foundation for future growth.
The company’s eventual success will depend on its product portfolio, pricing strategy, launch timelines and ability to compete with established players. As India’s electric two-wheeler market continues to develop, VinFast’s entry could introduce another international competitor and provide consumers with additional EV choices.
