Blackbuck EV Unveils the ELON 3X: Setting a New Standard for Sustainable and Innovative E-Buses in India
Hyderabad-based Blackbuck EV has announced the initiation of road trials for their latest innovation, the ELON 3X electric bus. This advanced vehicle, distinguished by its three axles and 13-meter length, is currently undergoing a series of stringent tests and validations at the company’s Hyderabad facility, setting the stage for its anticipated certification process.
The ELON 3X represents a significant milestone for Blackbuck EV, a company founded in 2019 with the ambitious goal of transforming the Indian bus market.
Under the leadership of Founder and CEO Ramakrishnam Raju, Blackbuck EV is gearing up to launch this electric bus by 2025, marking a leap forward in sustainable mass transportation. Raju shared his enthusiasm about bringing the ELON 3X to consumers, underscoring the company’s pledge to produce the bus in Hyderabad through an innovative network of Micro-factories, designed to enhance manufacturing efficiency and flexibility.
In the first quarter of 2025, Blackbuck EV intends to carry out public road trials of the ELON 3X with one of India’s top transportation companies following successful ground testing. That is when production is scheduled to start.
Raju elaborated on the foundational principles of Blackbuck EV, highlighting the company’s comprehensive approach to the ELON 3X’s development. Since its inception, the focus has been on crafting a vehicle through extensive research and development, culminating in a modular skateboard platform. This innovative base supports not only the comfort and safety of passengers but also offers a cost-effective and operationally efficient solution for fleet operators.
The company’s focus on decreasing production welding and use of recyclable materials demonstrate their attention to sustainability. Raju also emphasized how well they understood the quirks of the Indian market, which have been mirrored in the design of the ELON 3X. These quirks include the desire for extended trips, excellent suspension systems, noise-free cabins, and well built sleeper beds.
The inauguration of Blackbuck EV’s first Micro-factory in Hyderabad by 2025 is eagerly awaited. This facility promises to incorporate cutting-edge technology to streamline the manufacturing process.
