Bounce Infinity Launches India’s First Portable Liquid-Cooled Battery
Bounce Infinity, an electric two-wheeler company, has introduced India’s first portable liquid-cooled battery technology in partnership with Clean Electric. This innovation is touted as a significant advancement in electric vehicle (EV) technology, offering improved range, rapid charging, and longer battery life. The e-scooter featuring this technology is available nationwide, with prices starting at Rs 99,210.
Enhanced Performance and Accessibility
The Bounce Infinity E1 model now includes the new liquid-cooled battery, enabling a real-world range exceeding 100 kilometers. The battery system supports fast charging, achieving up to 80% charge in less than 50 minutes, which reduces reliance on fixed fast-charging stations. Bounce is the pioneer among EV two-wheeler OEMs in launching a liquid-cooled portable battery that supports fast charging with a portable charger.
Executive Insights
“This launch marks a pivotal moment for Bounce Infinity and the Indian EV landscape. At Bounce Infinity, it is our constant endeavour to break down barriers to EV adoption and improve charging infrastructure. Our liquid-cooled batteries are portable and can be conveniently charged at any standard 5 Amp socket and fast charged at 15 Amp socket found in every household, just like the ones used for appliances such as refrigerators and heaters. This, combined with fast charging, affordability, and sustainability, empowers individuals to embrace EVs and experience the freedom of electric mobility.”
Vivekananda Hallekere, CEO & Co-Founder, of Bounce Infinity said.
“We are excited with the collaboration with Bounce Infinity to launch world first active liquid-cooled electric scooter with the convenience of a portable battery to set the global benchmark for the safe electric scooter. At Clean Electric, we are pushing the boundaries of innovation in battery technology to enable long-range, rapid charging EVs with un-matched battery safety to power the EV revolution by developing battery technology ground up specifically designed for the harsh operating conditions in India.”
Akash Gupta, CEO & Co-Founder, Clean Electric stated.
Battery Technology Advancements
The liquid-cooled battery boasts a 2.5 KWh energy capacity, delivering a real-world range of 112-120km on a single charge—an increase from the previous 1.9 kWh battery that offered an 85km range. Despite the advanced technology, the battery weight remains competitive at approximately 14.5kg.
Cooling System and Safety Features
Liquid-cooled batteries differ from air-cooled versions by using a fire-retardant liquid to absorb and transfer heat to external metal components, which then cool down through exposure to ambient air. This efficient thermal management significantly lowers the risk of overheating. The battery pack includes a 5-layer safety stack, featuring Cell Level Fusing, Pack Level Main Fuse, direct contact active liquid cooling, software safety protections, and a master-slave BMS architecture for N+N redundancy, akin to aviation industry standards.
Temperature Management and Efficiency
Clean Electric claims that their cooling approach ensures a 2-3 degree temperature homogeneity across the 140 cells within the battery pack, enabling a 30-50% higher efficiency compared to traditional methods. This innovation addresses the need for effective thermal management in EVs and contributes to the overall safety and performance of the vehicles.
Future Developments
Both companies are continuing to innovate with plans to launch the Long Range e1++ model, which will include a secondary battery to double the vehicle’s range and support universal Type 6 Public DC charging standards for light electric vehicles within the year. This progression ensures that the benefits of liquid cooling technology remain accessible and economically feasible for a broad consumer base.
