In a major boost to India’s electric two-wheeler segment, Oben Electric, the Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle startup, has successfully raised ₹100 crore in Series A funding. The investment round attracted key participants, including Helios Holdings, LLC, the Sharda family office, and the Kay family, marking a significant vote of confidence in the company’s vision for clean, accessible electric mobility.

With this fresh capital, Oben Electric plans to expand its footprint to over 150 retail showrooms across more than 50 Indian cities by FY26. The funding will also be used to ramp up production capacity at its Bengaluru-based manufacturing plant to meet the surging demand for electric motorcycles.

The company is also focusing on the development of its next-gen affordable EV platform, dubbed O100, which targets electric motorcycles priced under ₹1 lakh—an ambitious move to democratize access to EVs in India.

Founded in 2020 by Madhumita Agrawal, Sagar Thakkar, and Dinkar Agrawal, Oben Electric has quickly established itself as a trailblazer in India’s EV startup landscape. Unlike many competitors, Oben designs and manufactures key components in-house, including:

  • Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries
  • Electric motors
  • Vehicle Control Units (VCUs)
  • Its flagship products, the Oben Rorr and the Rorr EZ, run on LFP technology—recognized for its superior thermal safety, extended lifespan, and high-performance delivery, making them a solid choice for India’s diverse riding conditions.

Oben Electric’s mission is rooted in making sustainable, high-performance electric mobility affordable for the average Indian commuter. With this latest funding round, the company is not only poised to strengthen its R&D capabilities, but also to drive greater market penetration across tier-1 and tier-2 cities.

“Our goal is to create India’s most affordable and safest electric motorcycle without compromising on performance,” said co-founder Madhumita Agrawal, speaking on the funding milestone.

Looking beyond the domestic market, Oben Electric is also preparing to explore global expansion opportunities. Backed by a strong investor ecosystem and a growing product portfolio, the company aims to take its ‘Made in India’ electric motorcycles to international markets in the near future.

With the ₹100 crore Series A funding secured, Oben Electric is ready to scale new heights in manufacturing, retail expansion, and technological innovation. As India intensifies its push toward sustainable mobility, companies like Oben are poised to play a central role in shaping the next generation of two-wheeler transport—cleaner, smarter, and more accessible than ever before.
