In a significant step toward mainstream electric mobility, Kia India has officially launched its nationwide electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, featuring over 11,000 charging points under its new K-Charge platform, just days ahead of the July 15 debut of its first made-in-India electric vehicle — the Carens Clavis EV.

The initiative is designed to support the growing demand for clean mobility in India and addresses long-standing customer concerns such as charging availability, route planning, service readiness, and ease of ownership. The Carens Clavis EV will be unveiled via webcast at 12:00 PM on July 15.

At the heart of Kia’s EV strategy is the K-Charge platform, integrated into the MyKia app, offering access to a fast-growing network of 11,000+ EV charging points in partnership with 18 major Charge Point Operators (CPOs).

Key features include:

  • Real-time charger availability
  • Route planning and payment integration
  • Coverage across city and highway routes

This eliminates the hassle of using multiple third-party apps and brings end-to-end control to users in one digital ecosystem. Kia aims to expand this network to over 20,000 chargers by mid-2026.

Kia India has built a robust after-sales EV service network with over 250 EV-ready workshops equipped with:

  • Specialized tools and diagnostic systems
  • Trained EV technicians and staff
  • 100+ DC fast-charging dealerships with chargers from 60kW to 240kW

To support convenient home charging, Kia offers advanced AC charging solutions (7.4kW & 11kW) that exceed typical mass-market offerings.

“With our comprehensive EV ecosystem now in place, we are empowering customers to experience electric mobility with ease and confidence,”
Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India

The Carens Clavis EV, set for launch on July 15, marks Kia’s first locally developed and manufactured EV for India. The model is expected to compete in the mass-premium segment, with a focus on urban families and tech-savvy users.

The rollout of this EV ecosystem comes at a crucial time, as India pushes toward its net-zero emissions goal by 2070. Kia’s investment reinforces its position as a key player in India’s transition to electric mobility.

With over 1.2 million domestic vehicles sold, 367,000 exports, and a production capacity of 300,000 units annually from its Anantapur plant, Kia India is already a major automotive force. The company currently operates through 744 touchpoints across 329 cities and has more than 450,000 connected cars on Indian roads.

Kia has already established its EV leadership globally with award-winning models like:

  • EV6World Performance Car of the Year 2023
  • EV9 and EV3World Car of the Year winners

In India, its lineup now includes the Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Carnival, EV6, EV9, and the new Carens Clavis EV.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV launch marks not just the debut of a vehicle, but the culmination of a national EV ecosystem built on charging access, service infrastructure, digital convenience, and customer readiness. As the EV market in India gains speed, Kia’s end-to-end ecosystem could become a benchmark for mass EV adoption, especially in the mass-premium segment where affordability and practicality go hand in hand.
