Log9 and TORK Motors Collaborate to Boost Interoperable EV Charging Infrastructure in India

In a significant move towards advancing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, Log9, a leading battery pack manufacturer, and TORK Motors, India’s pioneering electric motorcycle and 3W electric powertrain manufacturer, have joined forces. Under the umbrella of the Bharat Charge Alliance (BCA) initiative, both companies are committed to promoting interoperable charging solutions across the country.

key points of this collaboration?

Interoperable Charging Ecosystem: Log9 and TORK Motors have established a strategic partnership to enhance the adoption of interoperable charging infrastructure. As members of BCA, they aim to create a seamless charging experience for EV users by allowing customers of both brands to utilize their chargers and charging networks.

Standardization: The charging infrastructure is based on BCA’s LEV DC interoperable standard, specifically IS 17017-25 and IS 17017-2-6, which were released by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in 2021. This standardization ensures compatibility and ease of access for EV owners.

Type 6-Bharat LEV Fast Charging: Log9 has introduced Type 6-Bharat LEV fast charging across its new battery platforms in the 2W/3W space. Type 6 is poised to become the low-voltage fast charge standard for the next generation, with multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) adopting this technology.

Mutual Agreement: The partnership commits to mutual agreement and implementation of any technology updates related to connectors, protocols, and payment gateways. This ensures sustained interoperability and a hassle-free experience for EV users.

Public Charging Network: Log9 and TORK Motors will collaborate to promote BCA’s LEV DC interoperable charging infrastructure. Their respective customers will have the convenience of charging their vehicles on each other’s public charging networks. Additionally, other OEM customers adhering to the IS 17017-2-6 and IS 17017-25 standards can also benefit from this combined network.

How will this impact industry?

This collaboration represents a leap forward in India’s journey towards a robust and accessible EV charging ecosystem.
As the EV market continues to grow, Log9 and TORK Motors are playing a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable and interconnected future for electric mobility.

Niti Aayog and Ather Energy are also working on the standardization of EV charging connectors that will help further in this interpretability of EV charging infrastructure.
