MG India and HPCL partner to enhance EV charging network

MG Motor India and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) have announced a strategic partnership to enhance India’s EV charging infrastructure. Together, they plan to install 50kW/60kW DC fast chargers at key locations across highways and cities in India. This collaboration is designed to provide convenience for EV users by increasing the availability of chargers for long-distance and intercity travel.

The chargers will be compatible with all EVs using the CCS 2 charging standard, including the MG ZS EV. These stations will be accessible to MG customers through the MyMG App and integrated with HPCL’s network discovery tool.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of MG Motor India, emphasized the importance of a robust EV ecosystem for the transition to electric mobility. He highlighted MG’s leadership in developing such an ecosystem and their ongoing efforts to expand the EV charging network, alongside battery recycling and second-life solutions for sustainability. Gupta noted that the partnership with HPCL is a crucial step in bolstering the EV charging infrastructure, thereby boosting customer confidence in EVs. HPCL’s extensive network will ensure accessible charging solutions for current and future EV users across India.

Shri Rajdip Ghosh, Chief General Manager of Highway Retailing at HPCL, noted HPCL’s commitment to a sustainable future through its vast network of over 22,000 fuel stations. He stated that HPCL aims to install 5,000 EV charging stations by December 2024. This partnership will leverage MG’s vehicle base to enhance charger utilization and improve customer experience through strategic infrastructure expansion.

Customers using these charging stations will enjoy loyalty rewards and exclusive promotions, further promoting electric mobility. This collaboration strengthens MG Motor India and HPCL’s shared vision of advancing sustainable mobility solutions and driving positive change in transportation.
