New Simple Dot One Electric Scooter Hits Indian Markets at Rs 1.40 Lakh
Simple Energy, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in Bengaluru, recently unveiled the “Dot One,” an affordable version of its flagship electric scooter. Originally available for pre-booked customers at an introductory price of Rs 1 lakh, ex-showroom, the EV maker has now launched the e-scooter at a starting price of Rs 1.40 lakh, ex-showroom.
Bookings for new customers are expected to start on January 27, 2024, at a token price of Rs 1,947. Additionally, the company states that it will give preference to current customers who wish to switch from One to Dot One, but only at a new price of Rs 1.40 lakh, ex-showroom, beginning on January 1, 2024.
What has changed: the Dot One is still an electric scooter with all of the features and design of the One model, but it has a single fixed battery instead of the latter’s dual battery setup. As a result, it can travel 151 km on a single charge instead of the 212 km that the One can travel on a single charge.
The Dot One is a single-variant scooter that has a 3.7-kWh battery and a certified range of 151 km—the longest in its class, according to the manufacturer—and an 8.5-kW electric motor that produces 72 Nm of peak torque, which allows the scooter to reach 40 mph in just 2.7 seconds.
The Dot One is available in four colours and comes with LightX and BrazenX choices as part of the introductory offer. Safety features include Bluetooth connectivity, OTA updates, turn-by-turn navigation, disc brakes with CBS, a 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument cluster with Android OS, and Bluetooth connectivity.
