Ola Electric Unveils Affordable Scooter Range to Drive EV Adoption in India

In a significant move to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India, Ola Electric has launched a new lineup of budget-friendly electric scooters. The new models, including the Ola Gig and S1 Z, are priced between ₹39,999 and ₹64,999, making them accessible to a broader audience.

Pricing and Availability

The Ola Gig is available at an introductory price of ₹39,999, making it one of the most affordable electric scooters in the market. The Gig+ is priced at ₹49,999, offering additional features and a longer range. For urban commuters, the S1 Z is priced at ₹59,999, while the S1 Z+ comes at ₹64,999. These prices are designed to make electric scooters accessible to a broader audience, encouraging more people to switch to sustainable transportation. Interested buyers can reserve a scooter for ₹499, with deliveries expected to commence in April and May 2025.

  • Ola Gig: Priced at ₹39,999, offering a range of 112 km, a top speed of 25 km/h, and a removable 1.5 kWh battery.
  • Ola Gig+: Priced at ₹49,999, offering a range of up to 157 km with a dual-battery option and a top speed of 45 km/h.
  • Ola S1 Z: Priced at ₹59,999, offering a range of 146 km, a top speed of 70 km/h, and fast acceleration.
  • Ola S1 Z+: Priced at ₹64,999, offering a range of 146 km, a top speed of 70 km/h, and enhanced durability and payload capacity.
  • PowerPod: Priced at ₹9,999, this portable inverter enables the removable batteries of the scooters to power small household appliances, offering up to three hours of backup.

Design and Aesthetics

The design of the new Ola electric scooters sets them apart in the EV market. The Ola Gig features a compact and functional design, tailored for gig workers who need a reliable and efficient mode of transportation for short trips and carrying loads.
