Gogoro unveils Pulse, a new electric scooter with unprecedented performance and technology

Gogoro, Gogoro Inc. (Nasdaq: GGR), a well-known international technology company that specializes in battery-swapping ecosystems that support sustainable urban mobility solutions, has recently introduced its latest model, the Gogoro Pulse.

This electric scooter not only embraces the company’s swappable battery standard but also marks a significant leap in technology, making it Gogoro’s most high-performance scooter to date.

“Gogoro has been widely recognized for its contribution to the transformation of the urban two-wheel industry with its integration of cutting-edge innovation, performance, and design that created a smart new electric user experience. The Pulse introduces a new and exhilarating Gogoro riding experience that utilizes our latest innovations in electric performance and aerodynamic efficiency with advanced lighting and an immersive interactive user experience.”

said Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro.

Innovative Design and Technology

The design of the Gogoro Pulse represents a departure from the traditional curves of previous models, adopting a modern look characterized by sharp angles and advanced embedded technology. Gogoro’s commitment to technological advancement in its scooters has consistently positioned its models as leaders in the electric scooter market.

Hyper Drive Powertrain

The Gogoro Pulse is equipped with a brand-new motor, the 9 kW-rated H1 motor, which powers the scooter’s Hyper Drive powertrain. This motor, paired with Gogoro’s new Hypercore smart system, delivers exceptional traction control, crucial for managing the scooter’s impressive torque output of 378 Nm (279 lb-ft) at the rear wheel.

Enhanced Performance

The H1 motor enables the Gogoro Pulse to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h (31 mph) in just 3.05 seconds, surpassing many 125cc-equivalent scooters, whether powered by gas or electricity. Although the top speed hasn’t been disclosed, the scooter’s 50% increase in power suggests impressive performance capabilities.

Intelligent Ride Modes

The inclusion of traction control opens the door to a range of new ride modes accessible through a handlebar dial. These modes include Range, Dirt, City, Touring, Track, and Custom, allowing riders to tailor their experience to different environments and preferences.

Efficiency and Cooling Innovation

Not only is the H1 motor more powerful, but it is also more efficient, thanks in part to a new cooling method. Gogoro combines liquid cooling with ducted air-cooling to enhance heat dissipation, contributing to the scooter’s overall efficiency. The company has also invested in optimizing the vehicle’s aerodynamics for improved performance.

Smart Cockpit and Qualcomm Partnership

The Gogoro Pulse features a Smart Cockpit dashboard with a massive 10.25-inch panoramic HD touch display, integrated with Gogoro’s iQ Touch HD user interface. This system introduces various features such as ride modes, turn-by-turn GPS navigation with real-time traffic information, and convenient access to Gogoro GoStation locations for battery swaps. Notably, the Pulse is the first two-wheel vehicle powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon QWM2290 digital chassis.

Luxury-Inspired Features

The scooter’s dashboard resembles those found in luxury cars rather than typical electric scooters. Gogoro Pulse adopts an advanced active-matrix lighting system with 13 independent LED units, creating a matrix-sequenced headlight for unprecedented safety, awareness, and convenience. The dynamic adaptation of lights based on riding factors enhances visibility and reaction time for riders.

Apple Integration for Enhanced User Experience

Gogoro Pulse takes a step further in user convenience by including the scooter key in the Apple Wallet app. This integration allows users to lock, unlock, and start the scooter with a simple tap using an iPhone or Apple Watch. The built-in Apple Find My feature aids in locating the scooter, providing additional security for users.

Availability and Pricing

Gogoro plans to release the Pulse to consumers in late Q2 2024, although specific pricing details are yet to be disclosed. The company’s unique battery-swapping model, where customers pay a lower monthly fee for battery swapping as a service instead of purchasing batteries, has been successful in Taiwan, where thousands of swap stations facilitate hundreds of thousands of daily battery swaps.

Conclusion

The Gogoro Pulse represents a significant milestone in the evolution of electric scooters, combining cutting-edge technology, innovative design, and user-friendly features to deliver an exhilarating riding experience. Gogoro continues to push the boundaries of what electric scooters can achieve, solidifying its position as a leader in the urban two-wheel industry.
