Volkswagen Introduces the ID.7 Tourer, Its Premiere All-Electric Estate Car

Volkswagen is taking a big step forward in Europe with the introduction of the ID.7 Tourer, a brand-new addition to their electric vehicle lineup. This car stands out as it’s among the first all-electric estate cars in the upper mid-sized category, showcasing Volkswagen’s ambition to lead in electric mobility.

The company is also launching the new Passat Variant, which together with the ID.7 Tourer, aims to cater to a wide range of preferences, offering everything from fuel-efficient petrol and diesel options, plug-in hybrids that can go over 100 kilometers on electric power alone, to fully electric vehicles.

The ID.7 Tourer is designed with business professionals in mind, offering a blend of zero emissions, long-distance capability with ranges up to 685 km, a luxurious interior, exceptional comfort, and ample space. This makes it an ideal choice for families and long-haul drivers. Volkswagen has announced that pre-sales across Europe will begin early this year.

Imelda Labbé, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management emphasizes that the ID.7 Tourer is particularly suited for families and individuals who drive long distances, offering a spacious and comfortable ride with the benefits of electric power for extended ranges. The car will be manufactured in Volkswagen’s Emden plant in Germany, alongside the ID.7 saloon and the ID.4 SUV.

What sets the ID.7 Tourer apart is its elegant design, combining the practicality of a traditional estate like the Passat with the sleek lines of a dynamic shooting brake, such as the Arteon. This design not only looks great but also increases the luggage capacity significantly compared to the saloon model, offering up to 605 liters of space with seats up and up to 1,714 liters with the seats down.

Volkswagen is offering two battery size options for the ID.7 Tourer, with the potential to travel up to 685 km on a single charge. The larger battery option supports fast charging up to 200 kW, allowing for quick recharges from 10 to 80% in under 30 minutes.

Technology-wise, the ID.7 Tourer is packed with features including a standard augmented-reality (AR) head-up display, which projects important navigation and driving information directly into the driver’s line of sight. This innovation not only enhances safety but also streamlines the cockpit’s design by reducing the need for traditional instruments.

Comfort in the ID.7 Tourer is top-notch, with features like automatically adjusting air vents, ergoActive seats with massage functions, and an intelligent panoramic sunroof that can switch between opaque and clear. Volkswagen also introduces the Wellness In-Car app, designed to enhance passenger wellbeing through customizable settings for lighting, sound, temperature, and more, aimed at creating a more relaxing and rejuvenating driving experience.
