Maruti Lunching EV This Year: All Details are here for you
Maruti Suzuki is to gallop on the roads of India in all its electrified glory. The carmaker is gearing up and finalizing its plan to launch its first electric vehicle this year, which will be a giant leap towards a greener future. But that is not all. To provide diversity and affordability, Maruti is also looking seriously at strong hybrids, biogas, flex-fuel, and CNG technologies. Get ready to drive cleaner and greener!
Maruti Suzuki Chairman Calls for Government Support to Accelerate EV Adoption
Government policies will have to be very strong for a fast shift to electric vehicles, Maruti Suzuki chairman R.C. Bhargava said. He was confident that a holistic approach was required to capture the extraordinary strengths of India and counter the challenges its socio-economic landscape will throw up. As Maruti Suzuki scouts for its ‘Maruti 3.0’ phase, the company is focusing on developing technologies indigenously in order to cut down on its import dependence. It is investing in engineering development and trying to get more suppliers to do so as well.
Maruti Suzuki: Beyond Electric Cars
Maruti Suzuki is taking a holistic view of green mobility. At a time when most carmakers are getting ready to join the electric vehicle race, this company is investing in strong hybrid technology, CNG, ethanol, and even biogas options. According to Chairman R.C. Bhargava, the answer has to be multi-pronged if India is to meet its unique challenges.
The reason Maruti has taken an interest in biogas is due to its carbon-negative and domestically produced fuel features. Already being tested in production, Maruti requires government support to scale this up.
This, however, is not a level-playing field; where EVs get tax sops, hybrids are punitively levied. Bhargava has articulated this policy fallacy quite strongly by stating that a multi-track effort was needed only if India’s automotive future was to be so different from its present.
Maruti’s stand epitomizes the complexities inherent in India’s quest for clean mobility. Even as the industry continues to debate which route to take, Maruti is betting on multiple technologies to future-proof its product line and answer India’s diverse needs.
Maruti Suzuki’s Hybrid and Electric Vision
Maruti Suzuki is expanding its green vehicle lineup. It is already available in two strong hybrid models—the Grand Vitara SUV and the Invicto MPV. It will also bring out its first-ever EV later this year. With a clear vision of coming out with six EV models in 2031, Maruti’s intent to electrify its offerings is loud and clear. However, the ability to cut costs and build up a charging ecosystem will be its actual challenge.
Even as SUVs are coming to the fore, Maruti Suzuki still believes affordable small cars hold the key to market growth. The company envisions taking car ownership to more people. This renewed focus on affordability is also in sync with the vision of Maruti Suzuki Managing Director Hisashi Takeuchi, who is keen to take cars to more Indian consumers.
