Ola Electric’s New 4680 Cell Scooters: Revolutionizing India’s EV Market

Introduction:

Ola Electric, India’s largest electric two-wheeler brand, is set to revolutionize the market with the launch of its new electric scooters, the Ola Gig and Ola S1 Z, featuring the innovative Bharat 4680 cell. These scooters, slated for release in April and May 2025, respectively, promise to deliver five times more energy density than the commonly used 2170 cells. The Bharat 4680 cell is designed to withstand India’s diverse climatic conditions, offering a wider operating range and a longer lifespan of over 1,000 charge cycles. With improved fast charging capabilities, these scooters can achieve a 50% charge in just 13 minutes. Ola Electric’s commitment to sustainable innovation is further demonstrated by its plans to manufacture these cells at a gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This article delves into the details of these new scooters, their advanced battery technology, and the impact on India’s EV market.
