In a landmark move to accelerate India’s electric mobility revolution, the Union Government has announced the development of a “Super App” exclusively for Electric Vehicle (EV) users across the country.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is being considered as the nodal agency responsible for demand aggregation and the development of the unified Super App.

The Super App is envisioned as a one-stop digital platform to simplify and streamline the EV experience for Indian users. It will offer a host of essential features including:

  • Real-time charging slot booking
  • Live charger availability updates
  • Integrated digital payments
  • Nationwide deployment dashboards under the PM E-Drive Scheme

BHEL is also expected to collaborate with state governments and central ministries to plan and implement a vast network of EV charging infrastructure across the country.

The Super App initiative is a core component of the PM E-Drive Scheme, which aims to build a nationwide EV-ready ecosystem that supports clean mobility and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.

Here are the key features of the scheme:

  • Total financial allocation: ₹Q,000 crore
  • Installation of approximately 72,000 public EV charging stations
  • Coverage across 50 national highway corridors
  • Strategic deployment in metro cities, airports, railway stations, state highways, petrol pumps, and toll plazas

“The PM E-Drive scheme is a transformative initiative aimed at giving our citizens access to clean, affordable, and convenient mobility options. We are not just building infrastructure; we are building the foundation for energy security and green economic growth,”
said Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

This bold step towards integrating digital innovation with green mobility is expected to significantly enhance user convenience, boost EV adoption, and pave the way for India’s cleaner, smarter transportation future.
