Clean Electric Unveils Revolutionary 12-Minute Charging Battery Technology for Electric Vehicles
Clean Electric, a pioneer in XFC battery technology for electric vehicles, has unveiled a revolutionary rapid recharging battery that can fully charge electric vehicles in under 12 minutes. This breakthrough marks a significant advancement, reducing EV charging times from the typical 60 to 120 minutes.
The company’s proprietary battery technology employs universal CCS 2 DC charging standards, ensuring compatibility across all EV models and form factors. These fireproof batteries have undergone testing for 3700 rapid charge cycles with only an 11% degradation in overall range. Clean Electric’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pune can produce up to 1200 battery packs per month, as stated in their media release.

This innovative technology has been in development for four years and is supported by four granted patents in both domestic and US markets. Clean Electric’s battery architectures feature industry-first technologies, such as direct contact liquid cooling (DCLC) for electric four-wheelers (e-4W) and large battery systems, self-contained adaptive active liquid cooling (SCALC) for electric two-wheelers (e-2W) and three-wheelers (e-3W), and DCLC with integrated cell-to-pack (CTP) battery architecture. These innovations ensure intrinsically safe batteries, mitigating thermal runaway risk, and enabling rapid charging with higher packaging efficiency to boost EV range without added degradation.
The company collaborates with reputed EV OEMs in the e-car, e-2W, e-3W, and e-LCV segments and established startups to address major roadblocks to mass EV adoption. Key issues include the risk of EVs catching fire, long charging times (minimum 1 hour), and the limited range (200–300 km) of current EVs. In a live demonstration in Pune, Clean Electric showcased a 2.2 kWh e-2W battery and a 12.5 kWh e-3W battery charging from 0-80% State of Charge (SOC) in just 10 minutes at a constant 5C charge rate using BIS-approved Type 6, Bharat DC-001, and globally accepted CCS 2 DC public chargers, making it the world’s fastest-charging production electric vehicle.
