Energy In Motion Limited (EIM), an integrated heavy electric mobility ecosystem company, has announced the signing of a strategic MoU with Sorigin Green Mobility Private Limited for deployment of 500 electric heavy commercial vehicles (e-HCVs) over a period of two years. This partnership aims to increase the adoption of electric heavy-duty freight transportation and support the decarbonization of heavy-duty commercial logistics and supply chain networks.
Under the terms of the MoU, the collaboration will focus on accelerating the transition to electric freight mobility and enabling the scalable deployment of electric heavy commercial vehicles (e-HCVs) across major freight corridors in India with significant cargo movement, including the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) port ecosystem. The proposed deployment will prioritise cargo-intensive routes where vehicle utilisation, energy costs and operational efficiency are key considerations.
As part of the proposed collaboration, EIM will provide its Ashwa 55-tonne electric tractors, supported by charging infrastructure, battery-swapping networks and energy-management solutions. The integrated approach is intended to support vehicle utilisation, reduce refuelling-related downtime and improve the operational economics of electric freight transportation.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Narendra Murkumbi, Managing Director of EIM Ltd, said, “We believe the electrification of heavy commercial transport will be driven not just by the availability of electric vehicles, but by an integrated ecosystem that makes them practical and commercially viable for fleet operators. Sorigin Green Mobility is our valued existing customer, and this new large-scale partnership marks a significant step-up in heavy electric logistics across key freight corridors in India. By combining our Ashwa 55-tonne electric tractor with charging infrastructure, battery-swapping solutions and energy management capabilities, we aim to address critical operational requirements such as vehicle utilisation, turnaround time and energy costs.”
On the occasion, Mr. Gautam Rekhi, Director and Mr. Aarav Tanti, Co-Founder, Sorigin Green Mobility Private Limited, said,
“We are pleased to partner with EIM to scale electric heavy freight across India. Combining EIM’s integrated vehicle and energy platform with Sorigin Green Mobility’s fleet operations, we aim to make zero-emission freight the default choice for ports and industrial supply chains. Our role is to make the switch simple. We finance, deploy, operate and maintain the fleet with guaranteed uptime, so customers pay only for the freight they move, with no upfront capex. We already operate EIM tractor in the JNPT and at Tuticorin Container Terminal, which lets us start this programme with deployment rather than pilots.”
The initiative aligns with national and global sustainability goals, targeting heavy transport corridors to maximize environmental impact. Implementation under the MoU is expected to commence immediately, with an initial deployment of 18 electric heavy commercial vehicles within the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) ecosystem.
