February 2024 Saw Ola Electric Spearhead a Boom in E2W Market, Securing a Dominant 40% Share in India

In February 2024, the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market for 2-wheelers experienced a remarkable growth, with a significant increase in sales, predominantly driven by Ola Electric, which captured a commanding 41.2% of the market share. As a key player and a subsidiary of Ola Cabs, Ola Electric has consistently led the way in the EV sector by capitalizing on its technological prowess and dedication to sustainable transportation options. In the month of February alone, the company achieved sales of 33,882 units, highlighting its influential role in the market.

TVS Motor, another major figure in the Indian automotive scene, also made notable advancements in the electric mobility sector, selling 14,554 electric 2-wheelers in February 2024. This move further strengthened its position in the market and reflected its commitment to the electric movement.

The increase in electric 2-wheeler sales, spearheaded by Ola Electric and TVS Motor, reflects the growing popularity and acceptance of electric vehicles among Indian consumers. Concerns about environmental sustainability and the rise in fuel costs have encouraged people to view electric vehicles as a feasible commuting option.

In addition to Ola Electric and TVS Motor, other companies like Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy are making their mark in the competitive landscape. Bajaj Auto captured over 14% of the market, selling 11,706 units, while Bangalore-based Ather Energy claimed around 11% market share.

The combined efforts of market leaders including Ola Electric, TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, along with Greaves Electric Mobility, Hero Motocorp, Bgauss Auto, Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility, Okinawa Autotech, and Okaya EV, have driven the electric 2-wheeler segment to new levels, signaling a significant shift in India’s automotive industry. As the country moves towards the electric revolution, stakeholders are ramping up their efforts to promote the adoption of electric vehicles, aiming for a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.

The upward trend in electric 2-wheeler sales in February 2024, led by key players like Ola Electric, TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, and Ather Energy, highlights the accelerating pace of electric vehicle adoption in India. With industry pioneers at the helm and consumers increasingly opting for sustainable mobility, the automotive sector is on the cusp of a major transformation towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future.
