Hyundai Creta EV: A Promising Electric SUV

Hyundai Creta EV: A Promising Electric SUV

Hyundai Motor India is preparing for the launch of its most awaited electric car, the Creta EV. Slated for a debut in 2025, the Creta EV is currently undergoing a rigorous testing phase and is set to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025.

With its expected release in the following months, the Creta EV is already generating significant buzz and anticipation among EV enthusiasts.

Design and Exterior Features

The Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted testing in Hyderabad and several other places, with leaks indicating that the company is all set to launch its best-selling SUV model in electric form. These latest spy shots provide a glimpse of the design and aerodynamic improvements of the electric version of Hyundai’s best-selling SUV. Recently spotted during testing in Hyderabad, the overall shape remains in line with its ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) counterpart. One of the notable changes will be EV-specific design tweaks like a front-mounted charging port and newly designed aero alloy wheels.

These wheels are not only designed to look futuristic but also to reduce the vehicle’s drag, ultimately improving the EV’s range. Another likely addition is connected LED tail lamps, which will further differentiate the Creta EV from its petrol and diesel variants.

Interior Features and Technology

On the inside, the Creta EV is expected to borrow several high-tech features from Hyundai’s other EVs, like the Ioniq 5. The EV could feature a 3-spoke steering wheel, a dual-screen infotainment system, and a voice-enabled panoramic sunroof.

Additional premium features like ventilated front seats, Level-1 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), Drive mode selector, Cup holder, etc. are also anticipated. These interior additions are designed to give the Creta EV a tech-forward, premium feel.

The Creta EV may feature an updated center console inspired by the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The color theme of white and gray for the interior seen in the Hyundai Creta ICE may be carried forward to the Creta EV also.

Performance and Specifications

In terms of performance, the Creta EV is expected to be powered by a 45-kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated range of 450 km on a single charge. The electric motor is likely to generate 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque, aligning with other Hyundai EVs like the new-gen Kona. The Creta EV will also include an advanced regenerative braking system, which is designed to improve overall efficiency and range during driving.

Expected Price

Hyundai’s smart strategy here is to use the existing ICE platform and the company’s best-selling model, the Creta. By doing so, the company can potentially reduce production costs and maintain competitive pricing.

This could make the Creta EV a viable option for buyers looking for a balance between range, performance, and affordability. The Hyundai Creta  EV is expected to be priced around Rs 20- 25 lakh.

Conclusion

With Hyundai’s reputation for reliability and innovation, the Creta EV is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated EV launches in the Indian market. The blend of familiar design elements with futuristic EV-specific features, coupled with the likely premium technology inside, positions the Creta EV to make a significant impact when it hits Indian roads.

By launching the Creta EV, Hyundai is positioning itself to compete with other electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Tata Curvv EV and MG Windsor. In addition, it will face competition from the likes of the Mahindra BE.05 and Maruti eVX, both of which are expected to enter the EV space soon.
