JBM Introduces 200 Ecolife Electric Buses in Odisha, Expanding Its Presence to Eastern India

JBM, a leading bus manufacturer in India, recently inaugurated its first batch of JBM Ecolife electric buses in Berhampur, Odisha, with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik presiding over the ceremony. This initiative introduces a total of 200 air-conditioned electric buses across Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack, showcasing JBM’s expansion into India’s eastern region.

The company, which already has more than 1,500 electric buses running in 10 states and significant airports around India, provides a comprehensive electric bus system, including power and charging facilities at the depot.

The newly launched 9-meter JBM Ecolife electric buses are recognized for their zero-emission capabilities. They are expected to reduce approximately 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and conserve 420,000 liters of diesel over a 10-year operational period.

Equipped with rapid-charging lithium-ion batteries, these buses offer several modern features, including a Real-Time Passenger Information System, Panic Buttons, a Vehicle Location & Tracking System, and CCTV surveillance, ensuring passenger safety and comfort. They are designed to travel more than 200 km daily.

Nishant Arya, the Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of the JBM Group, thanked the Odisha government for their partnership and highlighted the company’s pledge to ensure efficient operations supported by reliable charging and maintenance infrastructure.
