Ola Electric, India’s largest electric two-wheeler brand, is set to revolutionize the market with the launch of its new electric scooters, the Ola Gig and Ola S1 Z, featuring the innovative Bharat 4680 cell. These scooters, slated for release in April and May 2025, respectively, promise to deliver five times more energy density than the commonly used 2170 cells. The Bharat 4680 cell is designed to withstand India’s diverse climatic conditions, offering a wider operating range and a longer lifespan of over 1,000 charge cycles. With improved fast charging capabilities, these scooters can achieve a 50% charge in just 13 minutes. Ola Electric’s commitment to sustainable innovation is further demonstrated by its plans to manufacture these cells at a gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The advanced battery technology, combined with the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation, positions Ola Electric as a leader in the industry. The increased energy density, wider operating range, and fast charging capabilities of the Bharat 4680 cell will enhance the performance and reliability of electric scooters, encouraging more consumers to switch to electric vehicles and contributing to the growth of the EV market in India.
