Hyundai Creta EV vs Tata Curvv EV: Specs, Range & Features

The Indian EV scene is getting super exciting, and two big names are making waves right now: the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV. Both are fantastic options, but they cater to slightly different needs, so let me break it down for you.

Pricing

Let’s start with the cost. The Hyundai Creta Electric is priced between ₹17.99 lakh and ₹23.50 lakh, while the Tata Curvv EV comes in slightly more affordable at ₹17.49 lakh to ₹21.99 lakh. Essentially, the Creta Electric’s base model is ₹50,000 more than the Curvv’s, and the top model is ₹1.51 lakh higher. So, if budget is a concern, the Curvv might seem like the better deal.

Dimensions

Size-wise, the Hyundai Creta Electric is a little bigger. It’s slightly longer (4,340 mm vs. 4,310 mm), taller, and has a longer wheelbase (2,610 mm vs. 2,560 mm). This should mean more interior space, which families might appreciate. It also has 200 mm of ground clearance, which is 10 mm more than the Curvv EV – handy for Indian roads.

The Tata Curvv, on the other hand, is wider, giving it a bit more road presence and possibly better stability. But overall, the Creta might feel a bit roomier.

Electric Powertrain

Now, this is where it gets interesting. Both SUVs offer two battery pack options:

  • Creta Electric: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh
  • Curvv EV: 45 kWh and 55 kWh

The Curvv EV’s larger battery pack gives it a claimed range of up to 502 km, while the Creta Electric tops out at 473 km. For daily drives and even long trips, both are impressive, but the Curvv does have the edge here.

When it comes to performance, the Creta Electric has two power outputs: 135 PS and 171 PS, with 200 Nm of torque. The Curvv EV, meanwhile, offers 150 PS and 167 PS, but with higher torque at 215 Nm. This means the Curvv might feel a bit punchier, especially in city traffic.

Features

Both these SUVs are loaded with features, but they each bring their own flavor. Here’s a quick rundown:

Common features:

  • LED headlights, connected LED DRLs, and tail lights
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Wireless charging
  • Level-2 ADAS for advanced safety
  • V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability to power external devices
  • Six airbags for safety

Unique to Hyundai Creta Electric:

  • Active air flaps for better aerodynamics
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Driver’s seat with memory function

Unique to Tata Curvv EV:

  • Larger 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) charging – this is futuristic and super handy!

If you’re into tech and futuristic features, the Curvv EV might feel more cutting-edge. But if comfort and refined details like memory seats or advanced climate control matter more to you, the Creta Electric has you covered.

Our Take

Both the Creta Electric and Curvv EV are amazing EVs, and which one works for you really depends on what you’re looking for. The Creta Electric feels like the better choice if you prioritize space and comfort. On the other hand, if range, performance, and cool new features excite you, the Curvv EV is tough to beat.

Think about what matters most to you – do you need a family-friendly, spacious car, or are you someone who wants to embrace the future with innovative tech? Either way, it’s great to see such strong options in the Indian EV market. What do you think? Which one excites you more?
