UEI Alliance Powers Up India’s Energy Landscape: 13,000 Daily EV Charging Sessions and Beyond

The Unified Energy Interface (UEI) Alliance is making significant strides in reshaping India’s energy landscape, with a daily average of over **13,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging sessions** facilitated through its network. This translates to a daily energy dispersal of a staggering **60 MWh**, a testament to the alliance’s impact on the nation’s burgeoning EV market.

A Collaborative Vision

Established in April 2024, the UEI Alliance has grown into a robust network of **30 members**, encompassing key players in the energy sector. EV charging companies, energy providers, and leading think tanks collaborate within the alliance, fostering innovation and progress.

Beyond EV Charging: A Broader Vision for a Sustainable Future

UEI is more than just an EV charging facilitator. Built on the Beckn Protocol, a standardized framework for energy transactions, UEI serves as a groundbreaking open network. This initiative goes beyond charging stations, drawing inspiration from the success stories of transformative networks like UPI (Unified Payments Interface) and ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce).

The alliance envisions a future where energy becomes more accessible, secure, and affordable for all. Their efforts extend beyond EV charging, spearheading the development of groundbreaking solutions like peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, green energy marketplaces, and next-generation energy storage technologies.

Collaboration is Key: Building an Interoperable Energy Ecosystem

“The growing adoption of UEI demonstrates how standardization and collaboration can drive meaningful change in the energy sector,” said Anirban Sinha, a representative of FIDE (Foundation for Innovation and Development of Education). He emphasizes the importance of the alliance’s focus: building a truly interoperable energy ecosystem across India. This interconnected network fosters innovation and removes barriers, allowing for seamless transactions and efficient energy utilization.

Diverse Membership Fuels Innovation and Growth

The UEI Alliance boasts a diverse membership that brings together major stakeholders in the energy sector, not just from India but with a global outlook. Founding members like Kazam, a leading Indian e-mobility technology company, exemplify the alliance’s commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation. Other key members include Turno, Sheru, Sattva Knowledge Institute, WRI (World Resources Institute), Pulse Energy, and Voltreum.
