Ultraviolette and HPCL Partner to Create Nationwide Network for EV Charging
Ultraviolette, a pioneering company in electric mobility and energy tech, has teamed up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at HPCL’s fuel stations across India.
This collaboration was announced at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The goal is to make it easier for people to travel across the country on electric motorcycles by building a network of charging stations.
Initially, Ultraviolette will start by installing these charging stations at HPCL’s fuel pumps in 12 states, planning to expand this network throughout India eventually. This project aims to cover National and State highways and even reach remote locations, making the most of HPCL’s extensive network of fuel stations.
Ultraviolette’s F77 electric motorcycles can travel up to 307 km on a single charge, making them ideal for long-distance trips and adventures. This partnership with HPCL is designed to support long journeys on electric motorcycles by providing accessible and convenient charging options, allowing riders to explore the country easily.
Ultraviolette’s CTO and co-founder, Niraj Rajmohan, expressed his happiness about the partnership with HPCL, emphasizing the shared objective of building a robust EV charging network. He thinks that this strategic alliance will take advantage of HPCL’s vast network to provide a smooth and hassle-free charging experience, actively helping to build a national infrastructure for electric motorcycles. The alliance aligns with the government of India’s aspirational goal of attaining a cleaner and sustainable mobility environment by 2030.
Debashis Chakraverty, Chief General Manager of Retail Strategy and Business Development at HPCL, mentioned the company’s commitment to encouraging EV use by developing the necessary charging infrastructure. HPCL aims to set up 5,000 charging stations by the end of 2024, with more than 2,600 already in place. This partnership with Ultraviolette is expected to further promote the use of electric vehicles, especially two-wheelers, across the country.
