Zuperia Auto’s Youdha EPOD Enters L5 Passenger EV Space to Compete in India’s Fast-Growing E3W Market Led by Mahindra, TVS, Bajaj
Zuperia Auto Pvt Ltd, formerly operating under the Lohia brand, has officially entered the L5 electric passenger vehicle segment with the launch of its flagship Youdha EPOD, signaling a strategic shift beyond its core e-rickshaw business.
The three-seater Youdha EPOD is targeted at India’s rapidly expanding electric three-wheeler (E3W) market, valued at around ₹90,000 crore and currently led by players such as Mahindra, TVS and Bajaj. The company says the vehicle focuses on performance, comfort and affordability for last-mile mobility applications.
While Lohia will continue as Zuperia’s premium brand, the Youdha range is designed for the mass market, covering electric cargo loaders, garbage disposal vehicles, and municipal service models to address both passenger and commercial segments.
The company’s Kashipur (Uttarakhand) facility, with an annual production capacity of one lakh vehicles, is being modernised to improve efficiency and output. Zuperia aims to achieve multi-crore revenue by 2030 through its dual-brand strategy and broader product rollout in B2B and B2C markets.
Ayush Lohia, CEO of Zuperia Auto, said the company’s vision extends beyond vehicle manufacturing.
“Our focus is on building a reliable EV ecosystem, ensuring durability, battery performance, and operational efficiency suited to Indian conditions,” Lohia said. The launch of Youdha EPOD underlines Zuperia’s ambition to become a significant player in India’s next phase of electric mobility, as demand for affordable and robust last-mile transport solutions continues to surge.
