Debut of First Made in India Hyundai EV: Expect a Range of 400-500 Kilometers

To facilitate this ambitious endeavor, the Korean automaker is establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, strategically located near Chennai. This facility will not only serve as a production hub but also underscore Hyundai’s commitment to localizing electric vehicle production in India. Moreover, the company is actively bolstering the EV infrastructure by expanding the network of charging stations across the nation.
Among the anticipated releases, Hyundai’s first Made in India electric car is speculated to be the Creta EV, a variant of the immensely popular Creta model. While specific details regarding the vehicle’s specifications remain undisclosed, industry experts anticipate a remarkable range of 400 to 500 kilometers on a single charge, promising enhanced efficiency and performance.
The surge in demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market is palpable, with Hyundai’s sister brand, Kia, also poised to introduce a Made in India electric car. The upcoming Kia Seltos EV has been sighted during testing, hinting at a promising future for electric mobility. Both Hyundai and Kia are expected to leverage advanced powertrains and robust battery technology to deliver compelling offerings in the EV segment.
In terms of pricing, the Hyundai Creta EV and Kia Seltos EV are projected to be competitively positioned in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. This pricing strategy is poised to intensify competition in the Indian electric vehicle market, posing a formidable challenge to established players like Tata and MG, who currently offer electric car options.
