The new module adds flexibility to Toshiba’s lineup, helping meet the different needs of customers and EV systems.

As India accelerates its electric mobility ambitions, global tech giant Toshiba Corporation is set to unveil its next-generation SCiB battery module this April, aiming to solve one of the EV sector’s most pressing challenges—rapid charging with thermal efficiency.

With electric vehicles becoming more mainstream across India, there’s a rising demand for battery technology that can withstand repeated fast charging without overheating. Toshiba’s new SCiB module directly addresses this need, boasting twice the heat dissipation capacity compared to current models, thanks to its advanced aluminium baseplate design.

Toshiba’s SCiB batteries are already well-regarded globally for their safe operation, long cycle life, high input/output capacity, and superior low-temperature performance. These batteries power a wide range of applications—from electric buses and hybrid vehicles to logistics automation and industrial equipment.

With this new addition, Toshiba enhances its battery module lineup, offering greater flexibility for EV manufacturers and system integrators. The modular configuration allows for custom voltage and capacity settings, making it suitable for everything from urban commuter EVs to heavy-duty transport solutions across India. As the Indian EV industry rapidly scales up, innovations like Toshiba’s next-gen SCiB module are vital for addressing infrastructure gaps, especially in fast-charging and thermal management. This development supports India’s mission to build a robust, sustainable, and globally competitive EV ecosystem.
