Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is rapidly emerging as the country’s electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing hub, backed by strong industrial investments and world-class connectivity, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Marathwada Liberation Day event, Fadnavis highlighted how the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Highway and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) have positioned the region as a preferred industrial destination. “Many big industries are leaving other states to invest here, particularly in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,” he said, as reported by the Times of India.

EV Manufacturing at Auric

The CM pointed to the Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric), a greenfield smart industrial hub developed under the DMIC project, as the key driver of this transformation. Auric has already attracted over ₹71,000 crore in investments in the past six years, he said. Several leading EV manufacturers have established operations there, with the potential to generate more than 62,000 direct and indirect jobs in the coming years.

Addressing Water Crisis in Marathwada

Beyond industrial growth, Fadnavis addressed the region’s persistent water challenges. He announced that a series of water diversion projects will be rolled out within the next six months. Detailed project reports (DPRs) will be ready by December 2025, with tenders floated by early 2026. Plans include bringing Krishna basin water to Marathwada and diverting 54 TMC from the Ulhas river basin, aimed at ending recurring droughts in the region.

Development Commitments

Refuting criticism that the last cabinet meeting for Marathwada delivered little, Fadnavis listed a series of approvals and allocations:

  • ₹61 crore for Grishneshwar temple development
  • ₹541 crore for Tuljabhavani temple upgrades
  • Projects for Aundha Nagnath temple, new anganwadis, and self-help groups
  • ₹3,121 crore for road infrastructure projects across the region

Village Transformation Drive

During his visit, Fadnavis also launched the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan at Kingao village in Phulambri taluka. The initiative aims to convert 28,000 gram panchayats and 40,000 villages into model villages, ensuring every household benefits from state and central welfare schemes. With large-scale EV investments, infrastructure push, and social development programs, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is being positioned as not just Maharashtra’s, but India’s next big EV hub.
