
India & South Korea Discuss Joint Initiatives in Manufacturing, Electronics & Clean Tech at G20
India and South Korea have agreed to explore joint initiatives in key sectors including electric vehicle (EV) components, electronics, and trusted digital supply chains, the Commerce Ministry announced on Friday.
The discussions were held between Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, and his South Korean counterpart, Yeo Han-Koo, on the sidelines of the G20 Trade and Investment Ministers’ Meeting in Gqeberha.
“The focus areas included collaboration in manufacturing, digital technologies, and clean technologies,” the ministry stated, highlighting that both nations aim to deepen partnerships in future-oriented industries.
As part of his visit, Prasada also conducted bilateral meetings with ministers from Japan, South Africa, and the Netherlands to strengthen trade and investment ties.
On the global trade front, the minister emphasised the need for WTO reforms, calling for the restoration of a fully functional two-tier dispute settlement mechanism with an operational appellate body. He also underscored the importance of a permanent solution on public stockholding for food security, ensuring affordable access to food for developing nations.The move signals India and South Korea’s commitment to collaborate on sustainable technologies and strategic supply chains, potentially boosting the EV manufacturing ecosystem and supporting digital trade innovations in both countries.
