Mercedes-Benz India Reveals 2024 Strategy: Introducing 12 New Models with a Strong Focus on Electric Cars and Premium Variants

Mercedes-Benz India has big plans to bring 12 cars to India, with a special focus on three electric models and a strong commitment to releasing top-tier versions. They started 2024 by introducing an updated version of their flagship luxury SUV, the GLS, which is priced between ₹1.32 crore and ₹1.37 crore (ex-showroom). The GLS is a hugely popular large luxury SUV in India and plays a crucial role in Mercedes-Benz’s leading position in the Indian luxury car market.

In 2023, Mercedes-Benz India debuted a minimum of ten models, which included the GLE SUV, AMG C43, and electric vehicles. As for 2024, the German luxury carmaker hopes to outperform its earlier endeavours; at the GLS facelift launch, the company declared that it would unveil over twelve models in the nation, three of which would be electric vehicles. Additionally, there is a shift in strategy toward emphasizing top-tier models, which is in line with the increasing demand for high-end luxury cars in India.

Although Mercedes-Benz did not reveal the exact models that will be launched in 2024, it did stress that at least 50% of the new releases will be premium models. The company also announced that it will invest a minimum of ₹200 crore in India to increase production capacity at its local plant and introduce new products and technologies. In addition, Mercedes-Benz plans to open 20 new workshops and expand its retail presence in 10 cities by the year 2024.

With 24 models, the business boasts the largest luxury automobile range in India, which it underlined during the unveiling of the GLS facelift. Mercedes-Benz also revealed sales figures exceeding 1.85 lakh cars in India, of which more than 80,000 are connected cars.
