RIOD Logic, an electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy technology company, has strengthened its presence in India’s EV charging infrastructure sector with the inauguration of a new EV charger manufacturing facility in Kerala. Alongside the new manufacturing unit, the company has introduced a dynamic UPI-based payment system designed to make electric vehicle charging more convenient, transparent and accessible for drivers.
The new manufacturing facility is located at Vengoor, Nedumbassery, Kerala. It has an initial production capacity of approximately 2,500 AC electric vehicle chargers per month, marking an important step towards expanding domestic EV charging equipment manufacturing.
The facility was inaugurated by Kailash C S, Director – EV Charging at RIOD. The company aims to use the new manufacturing unit to strengthen production capabilities, improve delivery timelines and support the growing demand for EV charging solutions across India and international markets.
New Facility to Manufacture AC EV Chargers
The Nedumbassery manufacturing facility will produce AC electric vehicle chargers with power capacities ranging from 3.3 kW to 22 kW. These charging solutions are expected to support various applications, including residential charging, commercial establishments and other EV charging infrastructure requirements.
In addition to manufacturing AC chargers, RIOD Logic will undertake DC charger development and provide energy-related products through Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) solutions.
The facility will also supply Completely Knocked Down (CKD) and Semi Knocked Down (SKD) charger kits to local assembly partners. This approach will help the company support domestic assembly operations while expanding its supply network.
RIOD plans to serve both the Indian market and international customers through the new facility, positioning the manufacturing unit as an important part of its broader expansion strategy.
Dynamic UPI Payments to Simplify EV Charging
Alongside its manufacturing expansion, RIOD Logic has introduced a dynamic UPI-based payment system for its EV chargers. The new feature aims to eliminate payment-related difficulties and improve the overall charging experience for electric vehicle owners.
Under this system, every charging session generates a unique QR code. Drivers can scan the QR code using any UPI-enabled application and view the applicable electricity unit rate and exact payment amount before completing the transaction.
One of the key advantages of this system is its flexibility. Drivers can stop charging whenever required, without having to complete the entire prepaid charging amount. Any unused payment is credited back to the user’s account.
This feature is expected to improve payment transparency and reduce concerns about advance payments at public EV charging stations.
Faster Settlements for Charging Station Operators
The dynamic UPI payment system also offers benefits to EV charging station operators and infrastructure hosts.
RIOD’s payment platform automatically reconciles transactions against individual charging sessions, helping operators manage payments more efficiently. According to the company, settlements are generally completed within two days, although the maximum settlement period can extend up to seven days.
RIOD Logic CEO Akhil Joy highlighted that transparent pricing for drivers and faster payments for charging station hosts are essential for making public EV charging a commercially sustainable business.
Strengthening India’s EV Charging Ecosystem
The latest developments form part of RIOD Logic’s broader investments in EV charging technology. The company is also focusing on custom Charging Management Systems (CMS), its Charger360 platform, energy optimisation solutions and secure plug-and-charge technologies.
By combining domestic charger manufacturing with simplified digital payment facilities, RIOD Logic aims to address two important requirements of India’s electric mobility ecosystem: locally manufactured charging equipment and convenient payment infrastructure.
With an initial manufacturing capacity of 2,500 AC chargers per month and the introduction of dynamic UPI payments, the company is taking steps towards supporting the expansion of EV charging networks across India while also targeting international markets.
