pi Ventures Leads $6M Series A as Moonrider Accelerates Electric Tractor Development with Support from Singularity AMC and Existing Investors
Bengaluru-based electric tractor manufacturer Moonrider has secured USD 6 million in its Series A funding round, marking a significant milestone for India’s fast-growing electric agriculture machinery segment. The round was led by pi Ventures, a deep-tech-focused investment firm, with participation from Singularity AMC, and existing investors Advantedge Founders and Micelio Fund.
Moonrider said the fresh infusion will be used to advance vehicle engineering, boost battery technology, and accelerate the rollout of its next-generation electric tractor lineup. The company is currently working on enhancing drivetrain systems, improving battery performance, and conducting extensive durability testing across diverse soil types and climatic conditions in India and select overseas markets.
The startup is preparing electric tractors in the 27 HP, 50 HP, and 75 HP categories for commercial introduction. According to Co-founder and CEO Anoop Srikantaswamy, the first customer deliveries are expected by February next year.
Moonrider has already signed MoUs for the supply of 6,000 tractors over the next three years, reflecting strong market interest. Parallelly, the company is running customer trials across multiple agricultural zones as part of its pre-launch validation programme.
Founded in August 2023 by Anoop Srikantaswamy and Ravi Kulkarni, Moonrider focuses on developing heavy-duty electric tractors aimed at reducing farm operating costs and improving productivity for farmers and fleet operators. Its tractors feature in-house battery systems, mobile app connectivity, fast charging, and over-the-air updates. Charging options include standard home socket charging, AC chargers, and DC portable chargers capable of reducing charging time to around 30 minutes.
The company has built strategic partnerships with sector-focused organisations such as EM3 Agri Services in Rajasthan, which supports farm mechanisation, and Samunnati, a leading agri-focused NBFC working with a large network of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
With India’s electric tractor market gaining momentum, Moonrider joins players like Sonalika and AutoNxt in pushing forward the transition to clean, efficient, and cost-effective farming equipment.
Author’s Comment:
Moonrider’s latest funding underscores the growing investor confidence in India’s emerging electric farm machinery segment. As agriculture adapts to rising fuel costs and the demand for sustainable solutions, electric tractors are quickly moving from concept to commercial reality. With strong pre-launch traction, strategic partnerships, and a clear technology roadmap, Moonrider now stands well-positioned to accelerate EV adoption in India’s farmlands—provided it can execute at scale and maintain product reliability across diverse agricultural conditions.
