EV Maker Atul Greentech Ties Up with Exide for Batteries

In a significant step towards strengthening India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, Atul Greentech, a prominent player in the EV manufacturing sector, has entered into a strategic partnership with Exide Energy Solutions (EESL). This collaboration aims to establish a robust domestic supply chain for lithium-ion batteries, a critical component for powering electric vehicles.

By joining forces, Atul Greentech and EESL aim to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of high-quality lithium-ion batteries for their EV products. This partnership will not only bolster India’s self-reliance in the EV sector but also accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across the country.

A Strategic Alliance for Domestic EV Battery Supply

This collaboration aims to establish a robust and sustainable domestic supply chain for lithium-ion batteries, a crucial component for powering electric vehicles.

By joining forces, both companies aim to address the critical challenges associated with battery supply, such as dependence on imports and potential supply chain disruptions. This strategic alliance will not only ensure a consistent and reliable supply of high-quality lithium-ion batteries for Atul Greentech’s EV products but also foster innovation and technological advancements in the Indian EV industry.

Securing Domestic Battery Supply

To ensure a consistent and reliable supply of lithium-ion batteries, Atul Greentech will initially source battery packs from EESL’s manufacturing facility in Prantij, Gujarat. This strategic move will enable Atul Greentech to tap into the domestic battery supply chain and reduce its reliance on imports.

As EESL ramps up its operations, Atul Greentech will also source battery cells directly from EESL’s manufacturing facility in Bangalore, Karnataka. This will further strengthen the domestic supply chain and contribute to India’s self-reliance in battery technology. By localizing the production of battery cells, India can reduce its vulnerability to global supply chain disruptions and promote economic growth.

Driving Innovation in the Indian EV Sector

The collaboration between Atul Greentech and EESL is expected to drive innovation in the Indian EV sector. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, both companies aim to develop advanced battery technologies that can enhance the performance, range, and safety of electric vehicles. This includes research and development efforts focused on improving battery energy density, charging speed, and cycle life.

Additionally, the partnership will foster the development of a robust domestic battery ecosystem, including suppliers, manufacturers, and recyclers. By nurturing a thriving domestic battery industry, India can reduce its dependence on foreign technologies and create new job opportunities.

 Strengthening India’s EV Ecosystem

This strategic partnership is a significant step towards strengthening India’s EV ecosystem. By promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing reliance on imports, this collaboration will help India achieve its goal of becoming a global leader in electric mobility.

This partnership will also contribute to India’s energy security and reduce its carbon footprint. By transitioning to electric vehicles powered by clean energy sources, India can mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and improve air quality in its cities.

Moreover, the development of a domestic battery industry will create new job opportunities and boost economic growth. By investing in research and development, India can position itself as a global leader in battery technology and attract investments from around the world.
