MATTER Motor Works, India’s first technology start-up to launch a geared electric motorbike, has announced a strategic partnership with Bolt.Earth, the country’s largest EV charging network. The collaboration aims to tackle one of the biggest hurdles in two-wheeler EV adoption — reliable and accessible charging infrastructure.
Making Charging Simple and Ubiquitous
Through this alliance, MATTER’s ecosystem will integrate seamlessly with Bolt.Earth’s extensive network of over 1,00,000 chargers deployed across 1,800+ cities, including major hubs such as Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
The integration allows riders of MATTER AERA — the company’s flagship 22nd Century motorbike — to easily locate and access chargers through the connected MatterVerse app. The vision is to make EV charging as simple and habitual as topping up a smartphone, ensuring that range anxiety no longer hinders adoption.
Both companies are uniting under the philosophy of “charging for everyone, everywhere,” with access extended to societies, workplaces, campuses, and public hubs. The approach prioritises ubiquity over novelty, making EV charging an everyday convenience rather than a challenge.
Phased Rollout of Charging Integration
The first phase will enable MATTER riders to directly access Bolt.Earth’s nationwide network via the MatterVerse app.
In the second phase, co-branded chargers will be installed at MATTER showrooms and service centres to support test rides, customer charging, and dealership readiness.
Looking ahead, the companies are exploring the option of bundling Bolt.Earth chargers with MATTER vehicles, embedding charging access into the vehicle purchase experience itself.
Leadership Speaks
Commenting on the partnership, Mohal Lalbhai, Founder of MATTER, said:
“At MATTER, our mission goes beyond building the world’s most advanced electric motorbikes; we are reimagining the entire ecosystem that powers them. Through this partnership with Bolt.Earth, we are not only strengthening AERA’s value proposition but also driving forward the idea of the ‘Right to Charging.’ Every rider deserves the freedom to charge where they live, work, or travel. Together, we’re making EV charging as accessible and ubiquitous as charging a mobile phone.”
S. Raghav Bharadwaj, CEO and Founder of Bolt.Earth, added:
“India needs chargers placed where people live, work, and ride, backed by smarter charging infrastructure. That’s what this partnership with MATTER enables. At Bolt.Earth, we’ve always believed charging should feel effortless, like second nature. With over 1 lakh chargers already deployed, we’re building the backbone of India’s EV future. MATTER shares that vision, and together we’re creating an ecosystem where switching to electric becomes an obvious choice.”
Defined Roles and Operational Clarity
On the operational front, the responsibilities are clearly defined:
- Bolt.Earth will manage installation, uptime, and maintenance across public, dealership, and joint installations, backed by strict SLAs. It will also provide real-time charger data, technical support, and billing services, while enabling any free charging schemes initiated by MATTER.
- MATTER will focus on integrating charging access within the MatterVerse app, conducting awareness campaigns, supporting pilot projects, and sharing dealership rollout details to optimise charger placement.
