SUN Mobility and Bluwheelz Launch Electric Retrofit Kits

SUN Mobility, an innovator in sustainable energy solutions, has partnered with Bluwheelz to impact the last-mile delivery sector. The two companies announced a collaborative project that enables fleet operators to easily convert their existing Tata ACE-like vehicles into electric vehicles (EVs). Tata ACE-like vehicles, whether powered by internal combustion engines (ICE) or fitted with fixed batteries, can be enhanced by SUN Mobility’s battery-swapping system.

SUN Mobility’s Retrofit Kits for Tata ACE

The introduction of SUN Mobility and Bluwheelz’s retrofit kits met with considerable interest from both Tata ACE fleet operators and financiers alike. These retrofit kits present a compelling option against purchasing new diesel or CNG vehicles. Officials indicated that the estimated savings for operators, moving from CNG vehicles to retrofit battery-swapping EVs, would be around 30% monthly. Making the conversion from diesel vehicles could result in about 40% monthly savings.

As a result of its supported swappable battery technology from SUN Mobility, the benefits of an electric Tata ACE are manifold. In addition to increasing vehicle lifespan and reducing operational costs, the quick-swappable battery allows for minimal vehicle downtime; therefore, maximizing productivity. The added benefit as the Tata ACE moves into an electric vehicle is also that it can operate in no-entry hours in Delhi, compared to other vehicles, which add value and efficiency.

A Greener Future for Last-Mile Delivery

The retrofit kits offered by SUN Mobility and Bluwheelz provide an effective means for businesses to comply with government regulations that demand the transition to electric vehicles. This implies that by retrofitting their Tata ACE vehicles, businesses can continue working without making a large capital investment necessary for acquiring new electric automobiles.

To begin this initiative, Anant Badjatya who is the CEO of SUN Mobility has disclosed plans to launch it in NCR region first before rolling it out to other areas. Sanjiv Gupta the founder and Chairman of Bluwheelz welcomed the move and said that by using the retrofitted kits, it will be possible to switch over to electric cars thus reducing greenhouse gasses emissions as well as improving efficiency.

What Happened: JBM Auto’s arm has secured ₹750 crore in funding from Motilal Oswal to support the expansion of its electric bus rollout. The capital is expected to strengthen fleet deployment and execution capacity as India’s e-bus market scales up. The Key Number: ₹750 crore. Why It Matters: This is a strong financing signal for India’s electric bus ecosystem, where large upfront costs often slow deployment. Fresh funding can accelerate production, procurement, and route expansion for clean public transport.
