
Patna Enhances Urban Infrastructure with ‘Nagar Netra’ Project, Deploying AI-Powered EVs and 1,200 Cameras Across 250 Locations for Civic Surveillance
Patna: The Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) has approved the ‘Nagar Netra’ project, which will deploy AI-powered electric vehicles for real-time civic surveillance and urban service management across the Patna Municipal Corporation area. The approval came during the 36th board meeting of PSCL, chaired by Abhay Kumar Singh, chairman-cum-UDHD secretary.
The innovative initiative aims to integrate advanced monitoring systems into electric vehicles, enabling efficient tracking of civic services and improving urban governance. The AI-enabled EVs are expected to monitor streets and neighborhoods, ensuring timely detection of issues and faster response by municipal authorities.
Enhanced Surveillance Infrastructure
To bolster public safety, the board also approved the installation of 1,200 cameras across 250 locations under the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) project, at a cost of ₹63.09 crore. This addition will strengthen Patna’s existing network of over 3,300 CCTV cameras across 415 sites, including:
- 2,602 surveillance cameras
- 473 red light violation detection cameras
- 150 automatic number plate recognition cameras
- 12 speed violation detection cameras
- 120 vehicle detection and classification cameras
In addition, public address systems at 69 locations will continue to facilitate announcements and alerts for citizens.
Urban Beautification and Disaster Response
The board approved an ₹11.99 crore project to beautify the J P Ganga Path, stretching from Gandhi Maidan to LCT Ghat. The development will include green spaces, recreational areas, and public facilities, enhancing the area as a leisure destination for residents.
To strengthen emergency preparedness, PSCL also passed the ‘Civil Defence Casualty and Rescue Service Plan’ from Bihar’s civil defence directorate, aimed at improving disaster response capabilities and ensuring faster handling of emergencies.
The meeting was attended by municipal commissioner and PSCL managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar, Patna DM Thiyagrajan SM (online), and other key officials.
With the Nagar Netra project, Patna sets a benchmark in combining AI, electric mobility, and urban governance, showcasing a model for smart cities across India.
