MG M9 Set to Launch as India’s Latest Premium All-Electric MPV, Promising Luxury, Advanced Features, and a New Era in Sustainable Mobility
MG Motor India is gearing up to make waves in the electric passenger vehicle market with the launch of the MG M9, a three-row luxury electric MPV. Positioned to compete directly with models like the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire, the MG M9 will be sold through the brand’s exclusive MG Select retail network, which will also retail the upcoming Cyberster electric roadster.
This marks a significant milestone as the M9 is MG’s first electric people carrier in India, being introduced as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The car was first unveiled at Auto Expo 2025, with bookings opened in May at a token amount of ₹51,000. The official price announcement is scheduled for July 21.
MG M9: Tech-Loaded Luxury Cabin
The MG M9’s cabin is packed with advanced features, offering a premium in-cabin experience. Highlights include:
- 12.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- 7.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster
- Digital IRVM, cabin air filter, and panoramic sunroof
- Wireless phone charger
- 13-speaker JBL sound system
- Leather and suede upholstery
- Powered front and rear seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions
- Connected car technology, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities
MG M9: Strong on Safety
The MG M9 electric MPV is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including:
- Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)
- 360-degree surround view camera
- Seven airbags
- Front and rear disc brakes
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
MG M9: Powerful Electric Performance
The MG M9 is powered by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a claimed range of 500 km on a single charge. Performance specs include:
- Front-mounted electric motor generating 245 bhp and 350 Nm of torque
- Top speed of 180 km/h
- Full AC charging (5% to 100%) takes around 8.5 hours using an 11 kW charger
- DC fast charging enables 30% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes
A Bold Move into the Luxury Electric Segment
With the MG M9, the automaker is expanding its EV portfolio in India, following successful models like the Comet EV, ZS EV, and Windsor EV. The M9 not only strengthens MG’s electric mobility presence but also signals its intent to capture the premium EV space, targeting discerning Indian buyers seeking space, luxury, and sustainability.
