In a major push toward sustainable electric mobility, ChargeZone has launched Project E-DHARA, a nationwide initiative aimed at transitioning its entire EV charging network to 100% renewable energy. The programme — Electrifying and Decarbonizing Highways through Accelerated Renewable Adoption — positions the company as one of the first in India to commit to a fully green charging ecosystem.

First Renewable-Powered Hub to Go Live in 2025

ChargeZone, which operates over 13,500 charging points across India and the UAE, will kick off the project with its first renewable-powered charging hub in Dahej, Gujarat, scheduled for 2025. The initiative targets a major challenge in India’s EV sector: the heavy dependence on coal-based electricity, which currently accounts for nearly 75% of national power generation.

Solar + Battery Storage to Drive Clean Charging

Under Project E-DHARA, the Dahej hub will integrate:

  • A 1 MW solar power plant
  • A 5 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS)

The station is designed to run primarily off-grid, drawing from the conventional grid only when needed. ChargeZone confirmed that the Dahej facility will serve as a prototype for future renewable-powered charging hubs nationwide.

100 Renewable Hubs Planned Along National Highways

As part of its aggressive expansion, ChargeZone plans to deploy 100 renewable-enabled charging hubs along key national highways by 2026. These will support passenger EVs, commercial fleets and electric freight trucks, strengthening India’s green logistics infrastructure.

A Step Toward True Decarbonization

ChargeZone Founder & CEO Kartikey Hariyani said the project is a crucial step toward “true decarbonization,” emphasizing that EVs achieve their full environmental impact only when the charging network itself is powered by clean energy.

ChargeZone’s Project E-DHARA marks a defining moment for India’s EV ecosystem. While EV adoption is accelerating nationwide, true sustainability hinges on powering these vehicles with clean energy.

By committing to 100% renewable-powered charging hubs, ChargeZone is setting a new industry benchmark and pushing the sector toward genuine decarbonization. If scaled effectively, this initiative could significantly cut emissions across long-distance travel and freight movement, shaping the future of India’s green mobility landscape.
